While most systems provide sufficient power over the USB port for the Toshiba Portable External Hard Drive, a few manufacturers and some older systems limit this power. If you find that your Toshiba Portable External Hard Drive does not spin up, you may require a USB "Y" cable. This cable combines the power from two USB ports to provide ample power to your drive. Please contact ToshibaDirect for information on purchasing a "Y" cable.
